There's a hole in our roof

Just before Christmas 2008 the 35 year old roof on our Ranger HQ finally gave up the ghost, leaving us with a rather damp ceiling.

Quick action by the Hall Management Committee saw the roof re-felted in a matter of days, and early in 2009 we returned to a rather damp but at least watertight hut. And the good news is that the outside of the hut will be given a couple of coats of smart black preservative in the Spring - can't wait for that!

Meanwhile the dehumidifier is chugging away, drying out the inside.

Accessibility improved

Over the summer of 2008 changes have been made to the Ranger Hut to improve access from the ramped entrance, widening the door and making it easier to get in by wheelchair. The main double gates have also been fixed so that cars can be parked right next to the bottom of the ramp.

The main Hall at Dell Lane has also had a major refurbishment, and now has a proper accessible toilet as well as the boys and girls areas. This now means that the whole building is fully accessible to people whether on foot or wheelchair users.

BAG PACKING and other Denmark info

hope your all having a good easter!
We went bag packing on 7th at sainsburys, we managed to raise £253.53! between 10 of us including rangers, £23 was taken for Caroline and Katie who were guides fund raising for the BP adventure and then the rest was split between rangers for denmark and a guide going on a world camp to kenya. Meaning we recieved £29.64 each towards our costs.
At the meeting on the 1st we designed the Denmark 07 logo [the english are coming, lol] for our camp t-shirts and ordered the other clothing, we also started to deside what swapzies we are going to bring and what 'english' entertainment we are going to do for the other people there.
Our first meeting back is the 19th, see you all soon, love,
Emma

Update

I haven't writen for a while so I thought I would update on everything going on at rangers.
Firstly well done to everyone involved in the quiz night, we raised around £150 and everyone had a good time. Thanks to Steve for all his help and providing us with some great food.

We are all getting closer to our Denmark totals and are next event is bag packing in sainsburys.
Secondly Ann is asking if anyone who is fifteen would like to play in a netball tournament so far I think it is only me and Emma Bowen who are playing! so other players would be good.

Thirdly rangers are now collecting sainsburys vouchers hopefully for a mini table tennis table or some camping equipment, the final decision on what we will be saving for should be made next meeting. So please all get as many vouchers off friends and family.
See you all soon,
Emma

Sponcered swim

Well done to everyone who did the sponcered swim, well all being the five of us and those who watched. We managed to swim 435-ish lengths all together in an hour! we were all very tired and have made some money towards our trip to denmark.
We need as many tickets to be sold for the quiz night as not many people have reserved tickets and we need to know how many people are coming for food,
See you soon,
Emma
